Your social media profile is a way to show the world your personality. And, it is also a vehicle to showcase your love for Jesus. And, your Instagram bio is a great profile to showcase both. Furthermore, what you place in your bio may also encourage someone in the faith and even better –into faith.

A lot of times people use Instagram and other social media platforms for a quick break (at least I do) or just an escape . The verse you choose to highlight on IG, maybe the very thing that provides confirmation for someone or uplifts their spirit when they are facing a difficult situation.

Make A Big Impact

At the time of this post, you get approximately 150 characters in your IG space. In my personal experience, I have found that I have gotten fewer than 150 characters dependent upon what emojis I’m using.

So, we know the Instagram bio is prime real estate, and you don’t get a lot of characters to work with.

But, NEWS FLASH! You can do a little with a lot!

I love to update the bio section and am always looking to create the best bio that portrays my heart for encouraging other women of faith on that platform.

So, you might consider grabbing your collection of inspirational faith quotes and using them for your Instagram bio. It is an easy way to spread God’s Word around the world.

Great for Business and Content Creators Too!

If you are a business owner or content creator, you may find including a Bible verse may keep potential customers on your page.  When I look at Instagram influencers’ page, I am looking through the bio and grid. If I see someone with Christian content that does help me to stay on the profile, a bit longer and see what their page or product is about.

I am not an Instagram coach, so I know that there are big things like contact information and purpose that you want to make sure re a part of your bio. But it’s little things like a Bible reference, that could help a potential follower understand the types of product or content seen on your page.

Under the same token, you may find some people, who may become disinterested in your page because of your faith. However, if you want to make a bible verse a part of your Instagram bio quotes, then I am here for it!

Give It A Shot

Whether you have a personal, business or creator profile, consider using your Instagram bio to give God glory. Sometimes we think that we have to great faith or a leading pastor to showcase our relationship with Christ. But, you will be amazed how much more of an influence, we can have our family, friends and colleagues.

But don’t just let the number of characters dictate what you choose. Choosing among your favorite bible verses is an excellent way to select the quote that makes sense for your bio. You might also factor in what translation that you use.

Not So Short Bible Verses? Try Just Adding the Reference

You may find that your fave scripture has a lot of words. If you are really short on space in your Instagram bio, you may want to think about using the scripture reference instead. In fact, it may strike your audience’s curiosity to pick up the Bible. I use this approach on my Instagram bio. You can see my current verse here.  Here are three great Bible verses that you might even consider just using the reference. The entire verse is over the character limit, but they still would be great for adding their references to your bio.

  1. Psalm 31:19 –  How abundant are the good things that you have stored up for those who fear you, that you bestow in the sight of all, on those who take refuge in you.

  2. 1 Corinthians 15:58 – Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

  3. 1 John 4:18 – There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

At Minimum Include The Reference

I think whether you use the entire scripture or not, you will want to make sure that you add the biblical reference. You want to give credit, where credit is due.

It Doesn’t Have to Be Perfect

When trying to find the best faith verse or quote to showcase, just know that you don’t have to spend hours looking for the perfect one. Just Do It. I have perfectionist tendencies, and I can be my own worst critic. If you pick a bible verse and it’s too long, try another translation or one of the other suggestions I provided. The biggest thing is that you are giving God glory in the simplest of places and probably injecting some Jesus in someone’s day.

Bible Verses for Your Instagram Bio Hiding Spots

When we think of our Instagram bio, you may focus on the actual bio section to place that bible verse or scripture reference. However, there are a few other places you might incorporate it. These are not technically the bio. But these sections are placed front and center on your profile page and definitely feel like an extension of the bio.

  • Name – You might try putting your first name, and your favorite scripture reference (ex. Jane Doe, John 3:16)

  • Highlights – I haven’t done this yet, but I think this would actually be really cool to have a highlights section that is dedicated to your favorite Bible verses.

  • Username – Looking for a name change. Maybe try incorporating a biblical reference in your handle. Remember, some may be already taken, so be prepared to be creative.

  • Website: Use this section and link to a bible verse.
